Description:

The competition has a distinctively original touch to it. There is no verdict as such and the theme changes every year. In Brussels from 30 April to 26 May 2012

The 2012 theme is the violin and every member of the jury vows not to discuss the competitor's performances with other members of the jury.

Marks are secret and the first prize is awarded, following consultation, on the basis of these marks.

Queen Elisabeth was an excellent violin player and decided to create a competition in 1937 to encourage young virtuosos.
